Abstract
Abstrak Kerusakan dini pada perkerasan jalan aspal di Indonesia sering disebabkan oleh kondisi iklim tropis, kelembaban, serta kualitas material yang kurang optimal. Salah satu upaya untuk meningkatkan kinerja aspal adalah melalui modifikasi dengan bahan tambahan seperti nano zeolite, yang dikenal memiliki luas permukaan tinggi dan kemampuan adsorpsi yang baik. Penelitan ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh penambahan nano zeolite terhadap karakteristik aspal Shell Pen 60/70 dan menentukan komposisi optimum dari campuran tersebut.Metode yang digunakan meliputi pengujian penetrasi, viskositas, dakilitas, titik lembek, titik nyala, kelarutan, berat jenis, serta uji TFOT untuk tiga variasi campuran nano zeolite (1%, 5%, dan 7%). Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa penambahan nano zeolite menyebabkan penurunan nilai penetrasi dan daktilitas, serta peningkatan nilai viskositas dan titik lembek. Campuran dengan penambahan 5% nano zeolite memberikan keseimbangan terbaik antara elastisitas dan stabilitas termal. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa penambahan nano zeolite dapat meningkatkan performa fisik dan ketahanan aspal terhadap temperatur tinggi dan penuaan. Komposisi 5% nano zeolite dinilai paling optimal dalam meningkatkan kualitas aspal Pen 60/70 untuk digunakan dalam perkerasan jalan di iklim tropis. Abstract Premature damage to asphalt pavement in Indonesia is often caused by tropical climate conditions, humidity, and suboptimal material quality. One of the efforts to improve asphalt performance is by modifying it with additive materials such as nano zeolite, known for its high surface area and excellent adsorption capacity. This study aims to analyze the effect of adding nano zeolite on the characteristics of Shell Pen 60/70 asphalt and determine the optimal composition of the mixture. The methods used include penetration, viscosity, ductility, softening point, flash point, solubility, specific gravity tests, and TFOT testing for three variations of nano zeolite mixtures (1%, 5%, and 7%). The test results showed that the addition of nano zeolite reduced the penetration and ductility values while increasing the viscosity and softening point. The mixture with 5% nano zeolite addition provided the best balance between elasticity and thermal stability. The conclusion of this study is that the addition of nano zeolite can enhance the physical performance and resistance of asphalt to high temperatures and aging. A 5% nano zeolite composition is considered optimal for improving the quality of Pen 60/70 asphalt, making it suitable for pavement construction in tropical climates.
